We recently embarked on an unforgettable journey through Greece. We relished the sunshine, idyllic towns, and local cuisine all while going back in history. We traveled through a country whose origins date back to the 12th century BC, were then unified under Alexander the Great in 300 B.C. finally becoming known as Greece in 1830. The country is made up of 6,000 islands, of which 227 are inhabited.
One of the most famous of these islands is Santorini. We experienced the traditional charm and tranquility while wandering at the remarkable beauty of the narrow-cobbled streets, a vast array of shops and restaurants all with a breathtaking view to the Aegean Sea.
In Mykonos we enjoyed leisurely strolls through the quaint, narrow alleys of the historic town, walks along the beautiful port esplanade and discovering the shops, churches and restaurants that give the island its charm.
We also explored the bustling streets of Athens which was a journey to the past. We were surrounded by breathtaking sculptures and archaeological sites, monuments and ruins. Athens is recognized as the birthplace of democracy, arts, science and philosophy. The most famous of the archaeological sites is the Acropolis of Athens, a hilltop citadel dedicated primarily to its patron, the goddess Athena, with the most iconic ancient Greek monuments, including the Parthenon.
The Greek islands is all about culture, charming villages, crystalline waters, great food, rich history, and breathtaking landscapes making it a perfect ESCAPADITA.
