Uniting for the I/DD Community

The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD) is delighted to unveil the eagerly awaited Day at the Races 2024! This remarkable fundraising event will captivate attendees on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 12:00 noon, hosted at the illustrious Il Palio restaurant within the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. Set against the backdrop of the racetrack, attendees will bask in the comfort of a luxurious skybox, indulging in exhilarating entertainment, a silent auction, and the chance to forge connections within a vibrant community.

More than a fundraising event, Day at the Races celebrates unity and solidarity, supporting a cause that profoundly impacts lives. FDD remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing innovative programs that elevate the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs) across San Diego and Imperial Counties.

The invaluable Emergency Help Fund Program is central to FDD’s mission, a beacon of hope that has distributed over $2,000,000 since its establishment in 1986. This lifeline has provided financial aid to more than 2,000 San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) clients, assisting with paying rent and deposits, utility bills, and other essential needs to make sure that all individuals with I/DDs can maintain safe, affordable housing. This fiscal year, FDD exceeded expectations by distributing over $300,000 – $100,000 more than projected to aid over 350 SDRC clients and their families.

As the demand for assistance reaches unprecedented levels, the Foundation urgently calls for support to sustain its vital work. Your support and participation in Day at the Races can make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals within the I/DD community. Fundraising and community solidarity are the essential pillars of FDD’s mission. Supporting this event directly strengthens FDD’s Emergency Help Fund, ensuring vital assistance reaches those in need.

Whether through attendance or generosity from afar, donations are equally cherished, amplifying the Foundation’s impact. The combined support of donors and attendees fortifies FDD’s capacity to furnish essential resources and programs, fostering inclusivity and enhancing the lives of individuals with I/DDs
