“Leadership is disappointing people
at a rate they can absorb”
– Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linksy
A staple of the Hoehn Family has been their giving hearts. The Hoehn Family have donated to many non-profits in the Greater San Diego area including the Ronald McDonald House, the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA San Diego, and the San Diego Rescue Mission. Hoehn Motors’ employees also volunteer their time and talents by attending and serving at events such as dinner service for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego. It has become a staple event that many employees enjoy participating in.

#6 Book Recommendations: On Leadership, anything by Tod Bolsinger. Latest books I am reading: “Moral Ambition” by Rutger Bregman, “Steps” by John Ortberg, and anything by Adam Grant
#7 My favorite travel destination is New York City. I would like to one day visit Japan.
#8 Adam Grant, renowned organizational psychologist, recently posted that it is truly better to give than to receive. While it is good to have self-care, studies have shown that doing random acts of kindness for others increases our joy meter. Also, we find ourselves at times in difficult challenges that require the support of a larger community. It is a human experience, one that requires the helping hands and hearts of others. We are a better community when we all do our parts to increase the common good in each other’s lives.
#9 Hoehn Motors has been in Carlsbad serving its customer base for over 50 years. During a time of many global disruptions, Hoehn Motors continues to be consistent in its primary core value to care for customers for a long-term business partnership. Hoehn Motors has many repeat customers, some spanning 25 years of car purchases for themselves and then for their kids. The company also has employees who have worked for the company for over 40 years. It is not uncommon to hear that an employee has been with us for 10+ years.
#10 For years now, Bill Hoehn and I have grabbed lunch about once to twice a month and we talk about music, art, philosophy, life, and latest trends. He is one of the most well-read and open-minded business owners I know. He has taught me the gift of being faithful to family, friends, and spiritual roots.
