Life moves fast for women – family, careers, calendars and commitments never slow down. When it comes to our health, delays are no longer an option. Go Red for Women is where community and connection meet action. As the American Heart Association’s signature women’s initiative, Go Red for Women is dedicated to raising awareness of cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death in women. The movement empowers women to take charge of their heart health, while addressing critical gaps in research, education and care.
Recently, members of the San Diego’s Circle of Red, Go Red for Women’s annual giving society, met at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, the site of the 2026 Go Red for Women luncheon. Circle of Red is made up of passionate individuals who are in the fight against heart disease and stroke in women to win. This group of women includes survivors, doctors, and leaders in our community who are using their influence, generosity, and passion to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease.
The American Heart Association is making a difference by training 22 million people a year in Hands-Only CPR, so everyone can feel confident taking action in an emergency. Too many women die from cardiac arrest, partly because people are afraid to touch them. Many people believe that women are less likely to have heart problems and overdramatize incidents. It is these fears and myths that lead to women being less likely to receive the lifesaving CPR help they need. We are supporting research on the rates of women receiving bystander CPR and raising awareness of the lifesaving skill.
That is why Go Red for Women is meeting the health and wellness needs of women now, and at every age, every stage, and every season of their lives as their trusted, relevant source for credible health solutions. This year in San Diego, we are focused on women connecting with other women for information, motivation and inspiration, because when women come together, change happens. We are taking action for our health, our future and every woman we love.
Circle of Red
The American Heart Association and its supporters, including the Circle of Red giving society, have been relentless in their pursuit to raise awareness and fund life-saving research and opportunities, much of which is studied and performed right here in San Diego. Circle of Red is an influential group of women dedicated to supporting the mission and work of the American Heart Association, San Diego Division.
We invite you to celebrate with us at the Go Red for Women luncheon on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Learn more at www.heart.org/SDGoRed or contact Shana Contreiras at (585) 410 4705.
