Salk Launches Streaming Media Channel

Unlocking the secrets of life itself is the driving force behind the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. The Institute’s team of world-class, award-winning scientists pushes the boundaries of knowledge in areas such as neuroscience, cancer research, aging, immunobiology, plant biology, computational biology, and more. Founded by Jonas Salk, developer of the first safe and effective polio vaccine, the Institute is an independent, nonprofit research organization and architectural landmark: small by choice, intimate by nature, and fearless in the face of any challenge.

In an effort to keep the community and science-minded individuals informed of the latest discoveries and research of its scientists, the Salk Institute has launched a new multimedia channel, called Salk Streaming. There, you can meet Salk’s world-renowned scientists in “From Then to When” videos, in which the researchers share stories of their childhoods, career journey, motivations, and research goals. For instance, learn about Assistant Professor Dannielle Engle’s personal connection to the research she is pursuing on finding new therapies for pancreatic cancer. Discover how the breakthroughs made by Professors Tony Hunter and Ron Evans over their storied careers have improved and saved many lives.

Additionally, Salk’s award-winning podcast, Beyond Lab Walls, can be found on Salk Streaming, with new episodes launching in early 2024. The episodes highlight cutting-edge science and the talented researchers making it all possible.

These offerings align with and expand Jonas Salk’s vision of bold, collaborative science tackling some of the biggest challenges facing humankind. Innovations at Salk have led to new medicines, cutting-edge scientific methods, and profound insights into human biology.

By subscribing to Salk Streaming, you will have immediate access to the personal stories of Salk faculty and their latest life-changing research. Salk Streaming is where you will find stories of science and the people who bring it to life.
