Autism Acceptance Month with Autism Society San Diego

Share

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to move beyond awareness and toward understanding, inclusion, and meaningful connection. Autism Society San Diego is proud to honor this month by highlighting their new symbol that reflects the heart of their mission, along with many impactful community events that celebrate belonging, advocacy, and unity.

The newly unveiled Autism Society symbol represents the diversity and strength of the autism community. The single threads of the Autism Society logo represent individuality and unique experiences that are simultaneously interconnected and woven into the greater community. Each thread stands on its own, yet together they create something stronger – symbolizing how people on the autism spectrum, their families, and allies are all essential parts of a vibrant, inclusive whole. This symbol reflects Autism Society San Diego’s commitment to honoring every individual while fostering connection, support, and acceptance.

In honor of Autism Acceptance month Autism Society San Diego and the Harmony Academy at National University will host Celebrate Autism Acceptance with Breakfast and Belonging on April 2. This collaborative event will feature a panel discussion focused on inclusion, lived experience, and community support. Among the panelists is Tim Gobran, a parent and Autism Society San Diego board member, who brings both personal insight and leadership to the conversation. He will be joined by other voices dedicated to advancing belonging and understanding for autistic individuals and their families. Together, the panel will highlight the importance of creating environments where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

Community celebration continues on April 16 with the Padres Autism Acceptance Night Game, an exciting opportunity to bring families, self-advocates, and supporters together in a fun and inclusive setting. This event underscores that acceptance belongs everywhere – from classrooms and workplaces to community spaces and stadiums. This fun event is a reminder that inclusion can and should be joyful.

Throughout Autism Acceptance Month, Autism Society San Diego invites the community to reflect, learn, and engage. Community members are encouraged to visit the Autism Society San Diego website to explore additional events, resources, and opportunities to get involved throughout the month and beyond. By launching a symbol rooted in connection and hosting events that foster belonging, the organization reaffirms its mission to create a San Diego where autistic individuals are accepted, supported, and empowered – every day of the year.
