Empowering Underserved Students to Thrive in STEM

San Diego Squared (SD2) is on a mission to connect underserved students to the power of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—by providing the tools, mentorship, and opportunities they need to build successful careers. SD2 ensures that exceptional talent, regardless of background, has access to the resources, networks, and guidance to lead and innovate within the STEM community.

You Belong in STEM

SD2 believes every student has the potential to excel in STEM. By bridging the gap between education, workforce development, and mentorship, SD2 creates pathways for underrepresented students to pursue and succeed in STEM fields. The organization’s inclusive programs help students feel seen, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their futures.

Our Shared Mission

Together with its partners, SD2 is redefining what’s possible for the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. Through education, mentorship, and career development, the organization is building a more diverse and dynamic STEM community—one that reflects the rich diversity of San Diego and beyond.

The Four Pillars of SD2

1. Collaborate

SD2 brings together community leaders, educators, and industry professionals to guide students as they navigate their STEM journeys. Collaboration ensures that every student has a roadmap to success.

2. Disrupt

Innovation drives everything SD2 does. By challenging the status quo and pushing for equity in STEM, SD2 ensures that talent from all communities can thrive.

3. Act

SD2 turns ideas into action. The organization delivers measurable results by creating programs that prepare students for real-world success—because change happens when passion meets purpose.

4. Represent

Representation matters. SD2 is cultivating a community of mentors and leaders who inspire underrepresented youth to envision themselves in STEM careers and beyond.
