On October 5, San Diego music therapy nonprofit Resounding Joy held its 6th Annual Living Your Dreams Fundraising Concert at a private home in Scripps Ranch. The concert featured a performance by the Sounds of Service band, composed of veterans who have benefitted from Resounding Joy’s music therapy program. These veterans, who learned to play instruments and collaborate as a band as part of their therapy, performed a mix of cover songs and original compositions. The opening act was a group of music therapy supporters called The Leftovers, who use the Resounding Joy Music Wellness Center for weekly music instruction and jam sessions.
Resounding Joy CEO, Kerri Fox, noted, “The event was a testament to the healing power of music and its ability to foster connection and community, with all proceeds going directly to provide music therapy for those who serve our nation.” The outdoor concert, attended by 75 guests, raised $15,000 to support music therapy services for military personnel, veterans and first responders.
