San Diego Center for Children empowers children and families struggling with mental, emotional and behavioral health challenges through transformative mental health care and educational services.

The Center can provide help to your child or family through services that include: outpatient, wrap around, school-based, residential treatment, foster youth, and mental health services for military families. Tara Beckman, LCSW, recently joined the Center in early 2024 as President & CEO. Beckman replaces Moisés Barón, Ph.D., and is the Center’s first female CEO.

#1 I grew up in Colby, Wisconsin.

 

#2 I was an athlete in high school and played four different sports.

#5 Donna and Yvonne, my cousins, have taken on the role of mother figures in my life, while Don, Donna’s husband, has been a father figure and role model. I am incredibly grateful for their love, support, and kindness over the years.

#6 At 15 years old, my dog Lucy enjoys puppies, squirrels, lounging on the beach, and showcasing her repertoire of 10 dog tricks in exchange for treats.

 

#7 I grew up in the foster care system and understand the profound impact that just one person can have in the life of another.

 

#8 San Diego Center for Children is the leading non-profit children’s mental healthcare provider in our region. Our skilled and caring team is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through nationally accredited mental health and educational services. We provide a hopeful path for a better future to thousands of families every year and have been doing it since 1887.

 

#9 I chose to become involved with the Center for Children because I believe in the transformative power of mental health support for our children, youth and their families. I chose this cause because every child and youth deserves the opportunity to thrive, and by investing in their mental well-being, we can build healthier, happier futures for generations to come.

 

#10 Funds raised at our “Heart of the Center” Celebration will help support the Center’s vital therapeutic and educational services to children struggling with mental health challenges.
