All this is much… and yet there is more!
The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support for all. Gregory Sahagian, MD is the 2026 Brilliance Gala Research Champion Award Recipient. Dr. Gregory Sahagian is CEO of Neurology Center, an Alzheimer’s Association of San Diego Imperial Chapter Board Member, and a respected leader advancing innovation in dementia care, research, and treatment. His commitment to improving outcomes for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and related dementias embodies the spirit of this award.

#1 Dr. Gregory Sahagian was born in Jersey City, New Jersey.
#2 I would like to visit the Galapagos, Scandinavia, Nova Scotia and Australia. It is also on my bucket list to visit all the US National Parks.
#3 My hobbies include: rescuing unwanted records, encouraging seeds to grow into plants and surfing without a board. I am a judge for the World Bodysurfing Championships.
#4 I really liked the movie “The Taste of Things” from 2023.
#5 Book Recommendation: “Reductionism in Art and Brain Science” by Kandel.

#6 Dusty is my feisty, howling pug.
#7 Alzheimer’s disease is a leading cause of death in the United States. More than 60,000 people in San Diego and Imperial counties are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, and more than 160,000 family and friends are providing care.
#8 Dementia care is a significant portion of care at the Neurology Center. As a neurologist, I see the impact of this disease not only the patient, but their families. Working alongside the Alzheimer’s Association we are able to ensure that our patients and community have the resources they need to navigate all aspects of this complex journey.
#9 Many people are surprised to learn that the Alzheimer’s Association is here every day in our local community – providing free education, care consultations, support groups, and a 24/7 Helpline for families navigating Alzheimer’s and other dementias. When you support the Association, you are investing in both hope for the future through research and real, practical help for families right now – ensuring no one has to face this disease alone.
#10 We are at a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. There are now treatments that change the course of the disease. Proceeds from the Brilliance Gala will go towards supporting the mission of the organization including funding the best of the best dementia research, as well as towards resources and tools to be implemented in our community.
