The Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation

Revitalize Together

The Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation’s revitalization of the Diamond Neighborhoods of Southeastern San Diego reflects founder Joe Jacobs’ philosophy of giving residents shared ownership of community success. The Jacobs Center has transformed 60 acres into The Village at Market Creek, a LEED-certified neighborhood and vibrant cultural destination. Through its partnerships with national retailers plus the development of a conference center and social enterprises, the nonprofit is building assets that will become economic engines for growth. Add public art and a multimillion-dollar restoration of Chollas Creek and you have another neighborhood hub in the making, just 5 minutes away from downtown.

True Roots Catering – Catering with a Cause

The Jacobs Center social enterprise True Roots Catering provides on-the-job hospitality training for local residents. Top industry professionals have come together to create unforgettable, first-class events and cuisine while putting individuals on a path to lifelong careers. True Roots features a deliciously diverse menu of local, organic and sustainable ingredients prepared by Five-Star Executive Chef Darren Street.

Through this innovative approach, the nonprofit provides local residents with the skills and confidence to build successful careers in San Diego’s hospitality industry. When you book your social or corporate event with Jacobs Meetings and Events or take advantage of their onsite and offsite catering service, all the profits go back to the community.
