Share

The Arc of San Diego is proud to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October. This annual observance honors the contributions of workers with disabilities across America and emphasizes the importance of inclusive employment policies and practices. The U.S. Department of Labor has designated the 2024 theme as ‘Access to Jobs for All,’ recognizing the essential role that people with disabilities play in creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.

The Arc of San Diego’s Employment Services offers individuals with disabilities opportunities to achieve their career aspirations through meaningful employment in a wide range of industries throughout San Diego County. Each year, more than 400 individuals receive support from The Arc’s Employment Services. For those facing employment barriers, The Arc provides a pathway to independence and self-sufficiency through tailored support, job training, and placement services.

“We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to work and contribute to their community,” Anthony J. DeSalis, Esq., President & CEO of The Arc of San Diego shared with GB Magazine. “This is a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of workers with disabilities and to reaffirm our commitment to creating inclusive workplaces. By fostering an inclusive workforce for all, we not only enhance the lives of individuals but also strengthen our community as a whole.”

The Arc of San Diego is proud to partner with over 100 employers in the San Diego region to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This collaboration not only promotes diversity and inclusion within the workplace, but also provides local companies with a dedicated and talented workforce. NDEAM is a chance for employers to display their commitment to creating a more inclusive community. This month, let us celebrate the incredible contributions of people with disabilities in our workforce!
