A Legacy of Community Service

Community honors come frequently to Dean and Susie Spanos with long-standing tradition of community service and support established by the Spanos family through the San Diego Chargers. Their heartfelt commitment to San Diego has played a key role helping various non-profit organizations.

Philanthropy and Commitment to San Diego

The Spanos family is recognized as one of pro football’s most philanthropic families and one of Southern California’s most active and caring contributors.  “We are fortunate to be in a position to help people and organizations that need and deserve our support. Our family is proud to be a part of the San Diego community,” Dean and Susie Spanos told Giving Back Magazine during our recent interview at their beautiful home in La Jolla.

A Strong Bond with the City

The Spanos’ commitment to San Diego and the Chargers is undeniable. As one of the NFL’s most successful and respected franchises under the leadership of the organization’s Chairman of the Board and  President, Dean Spanos, he has dedicated years of hard work and millions of dollars to give San Diegans a modern Super Bowl-quality stadium and secure a long-term home for their football team. The reason for this heartfelt bond: Dean, his wife Susie married for 35 years- and their two sons, A.G. and John, proudly have called San Diego home for more than 26 years.

Supporting The Arc of San Diego

Originally from Los Angeles, Susie truly has San Diego at heart. She, along with Dean, serve on various boards, committee’s and are proud to be Honorary Chairs for The Jewels of San Diego Gala on May 5th to benefit the Arc of San Diego. They, along with Phyllis and John Parrish and a dedicated committee are the driving force supporting The Arc of San Diego, an organization that empowers people with disabilities to achieve their life goals.

Beyond Football: Business and Passion

Originally from Stockton, Dean is an avid golfer and has won various golf awards throughout the United States. In addition to overseeing all business and football operations for the Chargers, Dean and his brother, Michael, oversee all construction operations nationwide for the A.G. Spanos Companies.

A Lasting Impact on San Diego

Whether on the gridiron, in the boardroom or the gala ballroom we are lucky to have Susie, Dean and the entire Chargers family call San Diego home.
