At Southwest Airlines, we connect People and champion communities. Our giving focuses on several strategic areas that accelerate economic, social, and environmental impact where people and communities can thrive. Among our valued partners is the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, a dedicated Chamber member for more than 40 years. We are proud to play an integral role in supporting their support for advocacy and championing policies that protect jobs, strengthen competitiveness, and secure a prosperous future for our binational region.

San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce

For 155 years, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce has served as the leading voice and strongest advocate for our region’s business community. Founded in 1870, the Chamber has grown alongside San Diego, helping shape one of the most dynamic and collaborative economies in the world. From supporting the establishment of the Naval Training Center in the early 1900s, to helping launch the University of California, San Diego, and advancing legislation that made the Coronado Bridge possible, the Chamber has played a meaningful role in building the foundation of our region.

The Chamber amplifies the collective strength of our business community to foster a thriving, inclusive economy where companies of all sizes can succeed and contribute to our region’s long-term prosperity. We are the largest member-based chamber of commerce on the West Coast. We believe deeply in the power of partnership and cross-sector collaboration, using our strategic influence to convene leaders, drive essential conversations, and deliver solutions that move our binational region forward.

A key part of our mission is supporting the small businesses that form the foundation of San Diego’s economy. From family-owned shops and local startups to growing enterprises, these small businesses create jobs, spark innovation, and bring unique character to our communities. The Chamber is proud to champion its success by providing practical resources, advocacy, and connections that help it thrive. Through workshops, networking events, policy leadership, and access to expert insights, we equip entrepreneurs with the tools they need to navigate challenges and seize new opportunities.

This year marks a milestone that honors more than a century and a half of progress and impact. The Chamber legacy is built upon advocacy, business leadership, and community engagement. None of these achievements or programs would be possible without the support, trust, and partnership of our members. Among these valued partners is Southwest Airlines, a dedicated Chamber member for more than 40 years. Southwest Airlines has played an integral role in supporting our work, most notably through its instrumental support for our advocacy, including countless delegation trips to Sacramento and Washington, D.C., ensuring San Diego business leaders maintain a strong presence at every level of government.

As we celebrate 155 years of progress, we look ahead with optimism. We invite you to our Anniversary Celebration on February 26th, as we gather to honor our history, our members, and the incredible spirit of collaboration that defines San Diego.

Looking ahead, we remain optimistic and unwavering in our mission. The Chamber will continue to uplift businesses, foster innovation, and advocate for policies that allow businesses to thrive. Because when business thrives, families thrive. Communities thrive. And our entire binational region thrives.
