GB: Please tell us a little about yourselves.
We are both long-term La Jolla residents. Bob is a practicing attorney and a member of the La Jolla Rotary Club. Claudia teaches Spanish at The Evans School and is a board member of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, California Chapter. Claudia and our daughter Marianna are members of National Charity League, San Diego Chapter where they enjoy doing volunteer work. We are also members of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
What led you to choose SBHIS as your insurance agency?
We had seen Pat Salas at various community events and approached her to learn about Medicare. She shared with us the story of SBHIS, which is focused exclusively on assisting Medicare beneficiaries with their coverage options.
What was your experience as you approached 65?
We were overwhelmed with an abundance of mailers with misleading information. The government website was difficult to navigate and frustrating. We found relief with the SBHIS agents and website, which offered straightforward information in both English and Spanish.
What happened when you engaged with SBHIS?
Pat introduced us to the agent who would be handling our account, who then presented us with her recommendations, answered our questions, and addressed our concerns. Our questions and concerns were directly answered. Their professionalism, knowledge, and “one-on-one” treatment was reassuring in a time of transition and otherwise confusion. SBHIS instructed me on how to create our accounts with Social Security and recommended the best choices for supplemental and prescription plans through Medicare and took the mystery out of the process!
