Masterpiece Gala Goes Moroccan

Following the success of last year’s MASTERPIECE Gala, Patrons of the Prado is well underway with plans for this year’s signature event. A fundraising benefit for ten arts, science and cultural institutions along the Prado in Balboa Park, the event is a pinnacle of festivity and fashion.

This year’s gala theme, Masterpiece in Morocco, takes place Saturday, July 13th at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion and is hosted by Gala Chairs Christina Jordan, Lynne Doyle, Nancie Geller and Patrons President Patti Judd.

On this magical Moroccan night, guests will be transported to an exotic oasis of culture, live entertainment and a world rich in flowing fabrics, lush color and gilded lavish scenery. Luxurious, warmly lit tents set the stage for Moroccan inspired culinary creations by Executive Chef Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille.

This year’s major proceeds benefit: Fleet Science Center, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Museum of Art, The Old Globe andTimken Museum of Art. In addition, Buck4Busesfunds support all beneficiaries including Mingei International Museum, San Diego Museum of Man, Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego Natural History Museum and San Diego History Center.

Over the years, Patrons has raised more than $3.7 million providing essential unrestricted funds to help sustain their ten beneficiaries on the Prado in Balboa Park. Since its inception, the event has grown in size, scope and profile becoming a significant source of funding for exhibitions, programs and capital improvements. In addition, over 169,000 San Diego County school students have been served through Patrons’ Bucks4Buses annual grants providing access to educational programs through the ten beneficiaries.
