MASTERPIECE Gala and ICON Award Announced
Thompson and Jane Fetter, known for their commitment to numerous San Diego-area organizations, will be honored as the 2024 recipients of the “Patrons of the Prado ICON Award for Arts & Culture,” which recognizes positive community impact for the greater cultural good. The Fetters will be celebrated at Patrons’ signature gala fundraiser, “Mythical MASTERPIECE: Enchantment at the Acropolis,” on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.
Attendees of Mythical MASTERPIECE will experience the grandeur of ancient Greece during the annual event benefitting the Fleet Science Center, Mingei International Museum, Museum of Us, San Diego History Center, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum, The Old Globe, Timken Museum of Art, and the innovative Patrons of the Prado Bucks4Buses initiative.
The enchanted evening of Dionysian delights, chaired by the Pt. Loma sister team of Cici Drummond and Malissa Sanfilippo, promises a not-to-be-missed night of craft cocktails, live entertainment, curated silent and live auction items, multi-course gourmet dinner, dancing under the stars and features Patrons’ “Pop the Cork” drawing, where one lucky winner receives a vast collection of premier wines.
Since its founding in 1997, Patrons of the Prado have awarded its beneficiaries more than 5.7 million dollars in grants and have enabled over 350,000 children to experience the sometimes life-changing educational programming offered in the park.
Patrons of the Prado is a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer group committed to raising funds to benefit the arts, science, and cultural centers on the Prado in Balboa Park and for programs that provide educational access for San Diego County, K-12 school children to the world-class treasures of Balboa Park, inspiring cultural fluency for future generations. Patrons of the Prado es un grupo de voluntarios (501(c)(3) dedicados a recaudar fondos para beneficiar las artes, las ciencias, los centros culturales del Parque Balboa y sus programas educativos, los cuales permiten a niños del condado de San Diego de K a 12 grado a disfrutar y aprender con los tesoros culturales con los que cuenta el Parque, inspirando a futuras generaciones a sumergirse en la cultura.
