A joyous evening celebrating the launch of the National University Foundation and the first year of National Universitynew President, Dr. Mark D. Milliron took place on the USS Midway. In addition, they honored the 2024 NU Humanitarians of the Year, Dr. Lee and Mary Rice. The magnificent evening was attended by philanthropists, educators, sponsors, graduates, and distinguished guests including Ernest Rady, Hunter Khaleghi, Carey Hilderbrand, Bob Heely, Chief of Police Scott Wahl, Ingrid de Llamas, Sarah Booher, Trulette Clayes, Tamara Craver, Elizabeth Fitzsimons, Dan Epstein, Phyllis Epstein, Denny Sanford, Maggie Watkins, Lidia S. Martinez, Nancy Rohland, Rolf Benirschke, Sara Napoli, and Sidd Vivek.
National University Foundation donors are changing the world, one student at a time. Learners from all walks of life will gain the knowledge they need to blaze new trails and become a force for good in society. One highlight of the event was when the entire VIP reception rose to the flight deck on an aircraft elevator- guests, bars, food and all!

Esteban Villanueva was born in Washington D.C. and raised in La Jolla. He attended both Francis Parker and The Bishop’s School locally before going to Dartmouth College where he received his B.S. in Biology and Pepperdine School of Law where he received his J.D. focusing Entertainment Law. He worked in the Latin music industry where his projects went on to win 14 Grammy Awards for artists including Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana. After starting GB Magazine with Danitza Villanueva in 2007, he has gone on to win awards and recognition from the community for his support of helping raise millions of dollars for non-profit organizations. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Air & Space Museum and resides in East County in San Diego where he and his wife Danitza run DAESVI Publishing, home to GB Magazine, among several other publications.
