Montana Adventures: From Glaciers to Waterfalls

Share

Big Sky Country

Montana has some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife in the United States and an abundance of wide-open spaces with skies that stretch beyond the imagination. Recently, Southwest Airlines started operations to Montana from San Diego. As a pet friendly airline, we brought our dog Winky on our flight which landed us in Bozeman Montana where adventures awaited us. Nothing but blue skies, forests and majestic beauty was experienced as we visited Glacier National Park. The national park showcases glaciers, alpine meadows, carved valleys, and spectacular lakes. With over 700 miles of hiking trails, we were able to hike many trails, often times without encountering any other people in this mountainous expanse. The famous Going-to-the-Sun Road is a highlight not to be missed as its 50 miles cross the Continental Divide at Logan Pass.

Another majestic part of Montana is found accessed through the town of Libby, where you find the Kootenai National Forest. Here the Kootenai River enters a canyon and flows over Kootenai Falls, one of the largest free-flowing waterfalls in the northwest. A forest trail leads to the Swinging Bridge and makes a nice hike that is not too strenuous with a very thrilling reward! To the Kootenai tribe, the falls is a sacred site. They view it as the center of the world, a place where tribal members can commune with the spiritual forces that give direction to the tribe and to individual members.

Montana fuels the spirit, sparks curiosity and adventure. Here you will never stop exploring, find inspiration and witness sensational sunsets making it a perfect ESCAPADITA.
