Making Medicare Easier: Sonia Ivette Chairez’s Journey at SBHIS

Share

Healthcare is a dynamic industry, with constant changes in regulations, medical advancements and consumer trends. And for many, coverage provided through government programs like Medicare and Medi-Cal offers unique peace of mind.

For over a decade, Chula Vista-based agency, South Bay Health and Insurance Services (SBHIS) Insurance Services, has been at the forefront of helping connect the right people to the right plans. As a health plan specialist at SBHIS, Sonia Ivette Chairez prides herself on equipping others with the tools to select the option that best suits their needs.

Born in Juarez and raised in Tijuana, Ivette grew up learning to problem-solve quickly as the youngest of 12 siblings. While working as a registered nurse in Tijuana, Ivette decided to participate in a singing competition called Valores, where she placed second. With her acting and singing career in full swing, Ivette met her now husband of 34 years, and moved to the United States. After working in telecommunications for 10 years, her brother-in-law asked her to help him find a Medicare Advantage plan provider. During that appointment, she met Pat Salas, the CEO and president of SBHIS.

“I was so intrigued and excited with the great customer service they provided to senior citizens, that I asked for the opportunity to join the SBHIS team” she shared with GB Magazine. “I received the support from SBHIS to earn my California Insurance License and embark on a new career as a Medicare consultant, a career to which I have dedicated 14 years of my life thus far.”

From the moment she joined SBHIS, Ivette’s goal has been to go above and beyond her duties and find as many different programs and benefits a prospect might qualify for. “At SBHIS, we truly make Medicare easier and our passion to serve is what sets us apart from the rest” she adds. “I love what I do, and I love that my members are always better off as far as their coverage than before they met me.”
