The Youth Philanthropy Council & San Ysidro Health

Partnering For Compassionate Care For All Children

A heartfelt congratulations to the Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC), California’s largest kid-run nonprofit, for leading the charge as this year’s presenting sponsor of San Ysidro Health’s Emerald Ball, the 55th Anniversary Gala. San Diego’s future shines brighter thanks to the incredible efforts of these young philanthropists, who have united to improve children’s healthcare for all in our community.

The Emerald Ball, which was co-chaired by YPC members Augustus Holm and James Farrell, was a resounding success! On August 10, over 700 San Diegans came together to support vital and countywide children’s medical, dental and behavioral health services. With the generosity and commitment of the YPC, San Ysidro Health reached an incredible milestone – raising $1 million to expand essential, pediatric healthcare services across the county. The Emerald Ball was not just a celebration of 55 years of compassionate care; it was a testament to our shared commitment to building a healthier tomorrow for our kids.

The Power of Kids Helping Kids

The YPC demonstrated that when young people come together, they create waves of change. What could be more powerful than kids helping kids? Their leadership and dedication to improving children’s health is inspiring, proving that age is just a number when it comes to making a meaningful difference.

A special highlight of the evening was the YPC’s car sweepstakes, which gave one lucky winner a pre-loved Honda Civic, generously donated by Honda of El Cajon. Every dollar raised from this exciting initiative directly supports San Ysidro Health, making an immediate impact on the lives of children and families in our community. Who knew winning a car could also mean helping kids access life-saving care?

A Legacy of Compassionate Care

For 55 years, San Ysidro Health has been at the heart of our community, providing compassionate care to children and families. It all began with seven determined mothers from San Ysidro, who banded together to ensure their children had access to healthcare after the community’s only doctor left. From that small but powerful beginning, San Ysidro Health has grown into a cornerstone of care in San Diego County, offering medical, dental, and behavioral health services to those who need it most.

Building a Brighter Future

Despite San Ysidro Health’s growth over the decades, the challenge remains – ensuring that every child has access to essential healthcare. However, with the continued support of the YPC and our incredible community, they are more than ready to meet that challenge head-on. Together, we are shaping a brighter, healthier future for San Diego’s children, helping them grow up strong, resilient, and ready to take on the world.
