Honoring the 2025 Women in Blue by San Diego Police Foundation

A kaleidoscope does not just reflect light – it transforms it, much like the San Diego Police Foundation 2025 Women in Blue Honorees. They bring depth, dimension, and brilliance to the San Diego Police Department and the community they serve. Chief of Police of the San Diego Police Department Scott Wahl served as the keynote speaker. Guest heard inspiring stories of female officers and civilian professionals as they create a safer and stronger community. The Women in Blue initiative propels the advancement of women in policing and inspires future generations of young women to pursue a career of service.

Among those in attendance were Captain Julie Epperson, Officer Sophia Choi, Deputy Chief Rudy Tai, Gina Lindell, Juliana Thompson, Julie Novak, Sara Napoli, Judge Fred Link, Nancy Rohland, Mayor Todd Gloria, Lisa Paul Hill, Catalina Duarte, Acacia Marcigliano, and Courtney Pendleton, who joined community leaders and supporters in celebrating the honorees.

Esteban Villanueva
Esteban Villanueva was born in Washington D.C. and raised in La Jolla. He attended both Francis Parker and The Bishop’s School locally before going to Dartmouth College where he received his B.S. in Biology and Pepperdine School of Law where he received his J.D. focusing Entertainment Law. He worked in the Latin music industry where his projects went on to win 14 Grammy Awards for artists including Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana. After starting GB Magazine with Danitza Villanueva in 2007, he has gone on to win awards and recognition from the community for his support of helping raise millions of dollars for non-profit organizations. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Air & Space Museum and resides in East County in San Diego where he and his wife Danitza run DAESVI Publishing, home to GB Magazine, among several other publications.
