Full Throttle: San Diego Auto Museum’s Annual Event

Share

The San Diego Automotive Museum is revving up for their annual signature event, “THE Party in the Park… Full Throttle” on September 30, 2023. This year, along with the racing theme and the style of attire “Rhinestone Cowboy,” the Party’s musical entertainment will be “Shane Smith and The Saints” – the most popular band used on the pre-eminent TV Series “Yellowstone”!

More specifically, in the first episode of Season 5, the band performs at the Inauguration Party for the Montana Governor John Dutton – played by award-winning actor Kevin Costner – and were featured throughout Seasons 4 and 5. “Shane Smith and The Saints” will be bringing their famous Country Rock to the San Diego Automotive Museum’s event!
Full of enthusiasm, the Co-Chairs, Reena Horowitz, Arlene Esgate and Jill Berg are planning a fantastic party. And they are leading an amazing committee working hard to deliver a very memorable evening for all who attend.

The other big headline for “Full Throttle” is the honoring of the Discount Tire – the country’s largest and most trusted independent tire store. Founder Bruce Halle’s motto, “Be honest, work hard, have fun, be grateful, and pay it forward,” flows through the company’s ethos. And this legacy is carried out by Discount Tire stores and into our community.

The relationship with Discount Tire and the San Diego Automotive Museum began a few months into the pandemic. In desperate need of interior building upgrades, Discount Tire stepped in to refurbish the Museum’s flooring. Old tile laid in the late 1980s came off to reveal flooring from decades earlier. Today, the lovely refurnished original flooring welcomes exhibit cars and visitors every day.

Over two years ago, when the Museum’s idea for a Vocational Training Program was only a concept, Discount Tire became the first official sponsor! On the front lines of the automotive vocation, Discount Tire is always looking to hire and train young men and women who enjoy working on cars. Their company offers on-the-job training, benefits, promotions, and college reimbursement. They want employees eager to work and have the potential of a successful career as a reward for their hard work. It is a perfect complement to the Museum’s educational training program!
Discount Tire is working with the San Diego Auto Museum’s vocational training program to introduce the new generation of car lovers to the industry through mentoring, career explorations, and also employment. Discount Tire’s position in the tire industry, their desire for passionate employees, their caring about good education and work ethics is helping San Diego Automotive Museum make a positive impact on our program for at-risk youth.

The Museum is excited to be honoring Discount Tire’s collaboration with the Museum and for the San Diego Community!
