The holiday festivities’ cuisines, drinks and calorie laden desserts make it easy to get swept by winter’s merriment, and some excess. Unwittingly, we can easily fall into poor diet, weight gain and stressed skin. Divino Plastic Surgery’s Dr. Carlos Chacón shares with us tips with to stay in healthy steps with seasonal changes.
A well-balanced breakfast is essential to commence the day. Dr. Chacón shared Giving Back Magazine, “Breakfast jumpstarts metabolism, burns more calories all day and gives energy to tackle tasks, focus and choose food wisely.” Another way to eat right is eating frequently, but smaller, healthier meals and snacking smart, reducing cravings. Instead of two giant meals daily, Dr. Chacón suggests four reduced feedings. “Make sure foods are well-portioned and nutritious. This helps regulate blood sugar levels preventing wanting to binge eat when they drop”, he added. Seemingly counterintuitive, eating a handful of almonds or an apple with natural almond butter before festivities increases food choice sensibility.
Dr. Chacón also warns against promising crash and fad diets. “Initially you may lose weight but it is likely reducing muscle weight versus targeting fat loss. Also, they increase vulnerability to resume poor eating habits”, he shared. Looking and feeling great during the holidays, and all year, takes practicing portion controls, eliminating processed foods and refined sugars and engaging in cardiovascular and weight-training exercises. Holidays can also be stressing on your skin and face causing flaky skin, puffy eyes and wrinkles can be a result. Soothing therapies repair dry, dull skin giving it vibrancy whether via exfoliation or laser skin rejuvenation modalities.
Even when following a healthy lifestyle with these measures, sometimes “pesky problems” arise which resist such efforts. A refined appearance and svelte figure are best accomplished during winter whether needing a spa treatment or body contouring surgical procedures. After you have taken care of yourself and made all the right efforts, a visit with a skilled plastic surgeon such as Dr. Chacón can help accomplish those final steps. His patients such as Cecili and Sulema show the results of personal efforts and a fine surgeons touch.
Whether needing a visit to the Spa recovering from a stressful holiday season or a visit with Dr. Chacón to look your best in the New Year, or the rapidly approaching summer months, a visit to Divino Plastic Surgery and Spa should be one of your New Year’s Resolutions1
