At Mission Fed Credit Union (Mission Fed), giving back to the community is the centerpiece of its mission, vision, and values. In 2024 alone Mission Fed gave over $1.2 million to causes that strengthen San Diego, support underserved communities, and promote financial well-being.
One of its most impactful initiatives is the “Community is Everything” Fund – a name that perfectly reflects Mission Fed’s commitment to making a difference in San Diego. With a remarkable investment of $500,000, the fund has been instrumental in helping local nonprofit organizations secure the financial resources they need to grow their impact.
Launched in December 2024, the fund awarded $225,000 to nine nonprofit organizations serving diverse needs across San Diego County, including programs focused on youth empowerment, food insecurity, and senior well-being. The 2024 recipients included the Emilio Nares Foundation, Junior Achievement of San Diego County, MAAC Project, Meals on Wheels San Diego County, Promises2Kids, San Diego Center for Children, The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, San Ysidro Health, and The Chicano Federation.
In 2025, Mission Fed expanded the fund through an open application process. More than 200 applications were received, and 26 organizations were selected to receive grants of up to $25,000. From education and the environment to Latino empowerment, foster youth services, animal welfare, special needs, and more. The range of work these nonprofits are doing is truly inspiring.
The 2025 grant recipients include MiraCosta College Foundation, Interfaith Community Services, MANA de San Diego, San Diego Oasis, Burn Institute, San Ysidro Health, San Diego Youth Services, Just in Time for Foster Youth, Girl Scouts San Diego, KPBS, Mama’s Kitchen, San Diego Food System Alliance, Classroom of the Future Foundation, Helen Woodward Animal Center, Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, TERI, Inc., Autism Society San Diego, Cristo Rey San Diego High School, Empowering Latino Futures, Teens Rise, WIT, Casa de Amistad, Words Alive, Urban Corps of San Diego, San Diego Center for Children, and Jewish Family Service of San Diego.
For Mission Fed, this is not a one-time effort. It is part of an ongoing commitment to ensuring San Diego remains a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
