Inspiring Future Animators, Scientists and Storytellers

Exhibits to Behold
A trip to the Comic-Con Museum is a journey through comic history and animation innovation. It starts with enrolling in “The Animation Academy: from Pencils to Pixels” exhibit, an all-encompassing, interactive animation deep-dive that invites visitors to step behind the camera and create works of animation. Then, the “Cover Story” exhibit tells the story of five decades of Comic-Con through every single Souvenir Book cover since 1970, each with artwork from legendary comics artists.

Brand new to the Museum and in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego is “Trino’s World,” an exhibit celebrating the art of José Trinidad Camacho, widely known as Trino, one of the most popular cartoonists in contemporary Mexico. With a long career in electronic and print media spanning more than 40 years, Trino has created a universe of characters and situations that portray, with a most personal and inimitable language, the joy and absurdity of life in Mexico. Visitors have the rare opportunity to see the lesser-known work of a master of humor, as drawings, watercolors and objects from Trino’s personal collection are on display, many shown for the first time in his first show in an American museum.

Makerspace: A Place for All to Create
At the Museum’s Education Center, visitors can channel their inner superhero, experiment like a rocket scientist, and create art from some of their favorite fandoms. Drop-in activities – such as crafting superheroes and gadgets from cardboard, designing a Scribble Bot and watching it create unique artwork, and generating a closed circuit that results in light-up paper artwork – happen Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Activities are designed to encourage fans of all ages to explore, design, experiment, and build in a creative, inspiring setting.
