Dedicated Hearts, Devoted to Service. That is the theme of the 58th annual Women of Dedication luncheon, honoree presentation and fundraiser on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. The event will honor twelve extraordinary women who are a dynamic and diverse group from throughout San Diego County. The women will be honored for their dedication to our community through volunteerism and service. The 2024 Honorees are Elaine Becerra, Christine Cremidan, Lisette Farrell, Jennie Hamilton, Connie Matsui, Barbara Rand Metzler, Merrilee Neal, Coreen Petti, Fran Shimp, Julia Ramirez-Stone, Lee Wills-Irvine and Caroline Wohl.

“We are delighted to celebrate these amazing women who have worked tirelessly to help those in need,” Dee Ammon, the Women’s Auxiliary President shared with GB Magazine. “Volunteering for so many causes, they have shown their commitment and compassion to making the San Diego Community a better place.”

Event Co-Chairs are Rosalie Gerevas and Carol Sciotto. Ernest and Evelyn Rady will be honored with the Peggy Matthews Legacy Award for their profound impact on the community and their dedication to The Salvation Army’s mission. Mr. and Mrs. Rady have a legacy that includes the Rady Residence on the campus of the Door of Hope and the new Rady Center in downtown San Diego which, when completed, will include a 200,000 square foot community center dedicated to reducing homelessness while providing a wide range of services to support the transition from homelessness to permanent housing. The Honorary Chairs, Louarn and Alan Sorkin, will be recognized for their commitment to The Salvation Army and countless other organizations.

The event begins with registration and boutique shopping offering jewelry, clothing, accessories and more with 25% of proceeds donated to The Salvation Army. A luncheon and presentation of the honorees will follow with musical performances by MacKenzie Cartmill and The San Diego Master Chorale. A highlight of the event is always the music and special song created for each Honoree by Bryan Verhoye.

The Women of Dedication Luncheon is the signature fundraiser for The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary which was founded almost 60 years ago. The Auxiliary supports the programs of The Salvation Army through fundraising, donations, and hands-on volunteer efforts. The services supported by the Auxiliary include providing emergency food and shelter to those in need and supporting the residential addiction and recovery services. 82% of every dollar raised by The Salvation Army goes directly to local social service programs.

Please join The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary on April 26th as it honors twelve “Dedicated Hearts” while raising funds to support The Salvation Army’s social service programs and the completion of the Rady Center downtown San Diego.
