Volunteers from across San Diego assembled Care Packages for deployed Marines from 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at the San Diego Air & Space Museum. The long-time voice of the Padres, “The Colonel,” Jerry Coleman, started a tradition to take a pause and gather on his birthday to assemble CARE packages with essentials to deployed Marine Corps Aviation units.
For his 100th, the Padres commemorated him at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in the presence of a Marine Corps F4U Corsair (the same type of aircraft Coleman flew in combat in Korea) with his name stenciled outside the cockpit.
