Hundreds Hit the Links in Support Local Students and Teachers

Approximately 170 golfers hit the links at the exclusive Fairbanks Ranch Country Club to raise funds for local student scholarships and teacher grants. It was the 7th annual Cal Coast Cares Foundation Charity Golf Tournament presented by Mastercard, featuring 18 holes of golf, silent and live auctions, and an awards ceremony.

This year’s event also included a new Paint & Sip event, where those who were not golfing enjoyed painting while overlooking the beautiful course with a glass of wine and lunch.

This year’s tournament raised over $160,000. “We could not have done it without our generous supporters, including all the golfers, Paint and Sip participants, auction item donors, and of course, our sponsors,” said Cal Coast Cares Foundation Manager Penney Newell. “It is so exciting to see everyone come together with our shared commitment to local students and teachers.”

In addition to Mastercard, the tournament’s major sponsors included New Cars Inc, Velera, Tailwind, Experian, ANI, Cox Business, TrueStage, and HUB international.

The Cal Coast Cares Foundation was created in 2015 to continue the California Coast Credit Union legacy of supporting the local education community, including teachers, students, and staff. The Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), provides scholarships for students and grants to educators in San Diego and Riverside counties. The Foundation awarded over $185,000 in scholarships and grants this year.

Daniel Raul Avitia, one of the Foundation’s scholarship recipients shared with GB Magazine, “Receiving this scholarship means the world to me, and I am truly grateful for this opportunity. It serves as a powerful reminder of the belief and investment placed in me, and I am committed to working diligently every day to maximize its impact. I will seize this chance to excel academically, contribute meaningfully to my community, and strive to make a lasting difference.”

Since its inception in 2015, the Foundation has awarded over $1 million in scholarships and grants to local students and educators.
