Breakfast At Tiffany’s Elegant Morning, Powerful Purpose

Share

Each fall, community members gather at La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla not just for glamour, but for something far more meaningful. Breakfast at Tiffany’s – the signature event of Miracle Babies – blends elegance, heart, and purpose into one unforgettable morning. It is a celebration that raises critical funds for families with hospitalized newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), all in support of the mission Miracle Babies was founded on.

That mission began with Marjan Mortazavi, Miracle Babies’ Board Chair and Co-Founder.

In 2009, Marjan helped launch the organization after her own daughter, Natalie, spent time in the NICU. Experiencing firsthand the fear and isolation that accompany a child’s critical care stay, she was driven to make sure no other parent felt helpless. What began with gift cards has grown into a movement – one that has helped thousands of families across Southern California access the resources and emotional support they need during one of the most vulnerable moments in life.

In the first half of 2025 alone, Miracle Babies coordinated nearly 1,200 rides for NICU families – helping parents travel from as far north as Oceanside to as far south as Chula Vista, serving multiple hospitals across the region. That is 1,200 opportunities for parents to be by their baby’s side – holding their hand, advocating for care, and simply being present when it matters most. During that same time, the organization also delivered over 570 care packages to hospital partners and hosted 31 bilingual mental health support groups and 27 Miracle Hours inside the NICU, creating safe spaces for healing, connection, and hope. “We are not just easing a burden. We are changing lives – one ride, one hug, one moment at a time,” Marjan shared with GB Magazine.

Over the years, Breakfast at Tiffany’s has grown into a beloved tradition, known for its stunning brunch, champagne toasts, and luxury silent auction, all with a view of the Pacific. But beyond the sparkle, the morning is rooted in love and advocacy.

This year’s event will include a very special moment: the introduction of the Joan Waitt Award. Named in honor of one of San Diego’s most passionate philanthropists, the award recognizes individuals whose generosity and advocacy have changed the lives of NICU families. The inaugural recipient is Joan Waitt herself, whose heartfelt commitment to Miracle Babies and the families it serves has been nothing short of transformational. “Joan embodies the spirit of this work,” says Marjan. “She gives not only with her resources, but with deep compassion and conviction. Her impact will ripple through generations.”

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is not just an event, it is a movement powered by community, empathy, and the belief that every family deserves access, dignity, and support during the most fragile moments of their lives.

Tickets are limited for this meaningful morning of style and purpose. We invite you to join us.
