For over 80 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego has been a cornerstone of youth development. Serving more than 21,000 children annually across 23 locations throughout San Diego County, the Clubs are more than after-school programs – they are safe spaces where children can feel supported and empowered. Many of these young people face significant obstacles in their everyday lives.
Yet inside every Club, there is hope. There is a dream. Whether it is an aspiring artist discovering their voice through creative expression or a budding scientist inspired by hands-on STEM activities, these experiences are more than stories – they are proof that when youth are empowered to dream big, they grow into confident, capable adults ready to change the world.
Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego hosts An Evening of Changing Lives – a signature gala that honors the limitless potential of youth and the community that helps turn their dreams into reality. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 13, at the stunning Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, with an inspiring theme: Dream Big.
Beyond the clouds and shooting for the stars, this year’s Dream Big gala will reflect the hopes held for every child who enters the Club doors: the freedom to imagine a brighter future and the tools to pursue it. Guests will enjoy an elegant evening of fine dining, live entertainment by The Mighty Untouchables, and powerful stories shared by Club youth and alumni. From current members reflecting on the impact of the Club in their lives, to alumni sharing how that support helped shape their journeys, the program is a moving reminder that when a child is given the chance to dream big, incredible things happen.
The night will also include a cocktail hour, live and silent auctions, opportunity drawings, and an interactive photobooth. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, and community leaders, the event raises critical funds that directly support the Club’s academic success programs, character and leadership development, and healthy lifestyle initiatives. Every dollar raised helps remove barriers and open doors – within the Club and beyond.
