A Coastal Affair: 2025 Alzheimer’s Brilliance Gala

Share

Join the Alzheimer’s Association May 2, 2025, at the Seabird Ocean Resort in Oceanside for the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego & Imperial Chapter 2025 Brilliance Gala – A Coastal Affair. The evening will recognize and celebrate the global impact San Diegans have had in changing the trajectory of Alzheimer’s disease and all other dementias, while also raising funds to ensure that work continues.

The recognition starts with honoring the Keck School of Medicine USC Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) as the 2025 Alzheimer’s Association’s “Visionary Award” recipient. This award is presented to an individual, company or organization with remarkable foresight and dedication to improve the lives of those with dementia, their caregivers, and loved ones.

Located here in the global hub for neuroscience and Alzheimer’s therapeutic research, ATRI’s work is critical to the fight to End Alzheimer’s. Their work is especially exciting; an idea that seemed impossible only a few years ago. Further discovery in this area could be life-changing for the millions of individuals and families who will be impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.

The 2025 Alzheimer’s Association Hope Award, presented to an individual whose life story and activities have spurred others to action on behalf of the millions of Americans with Alzheimer’s, is long-time volunteer and champion Maureen McNulty. Maureen has spent a lifetime in the fight to end Alzheimer’s.

Her work at the Alzheimer’s Association laid the foundation for the current Era of Treatment, and her most recent work as a volunteer and advocate helped pass legislation that will cover treatment for those with Alzheimer’s – something that was not even an option just a decade ago. Maureen’s commitment to the fight against Alzheimer’s is personal as she was a caregiver for her mother, and currently helps care for her sister.

The Time is Now

We are at a turning point in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. We are making progress at an unimaginable rate, but there is still so much to do. And that work starts with your support.

The Brilliance Gala offers more than an exceptional evening of celebration featuring cocktails, seated dinner, live and silent auction, live entertainment, special guests and more, but also an opportunity to change the future: an opportunity to create a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

Funds raised at the Brilliance Gala fund local programs and services as well as research to find treatments and a cure. The Association is currently funding more than $18 million in active research targeting Alzheimer’s disease across institutions right here in San Diego, including San Diego State University, UC San Diego, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, the University of Southern California’s Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute and more.

There has never been a more important time in the fight to end Alzheimer’s than right now. This urgency is the driving factor behind the 2025 Brilliance Gala. The 2025 Brilliance Gala is brought to you by ATRI, AMN Healthcare, Takeda, and Belmont Village.
