Papa Doug Manchester is committed to San Diego and supports multiple organizations through charitable contributions with a focus on causes that advance health & human services, youth and education. Recently, Papa Doug helped a young woman from South Sudan named Mary. Mary had fallen into a fire and experienced burn trauma and scarring. There was no medical facility that could treat her condition in her country. By partnering with the Bill Cook Foundation and World of Children, Papa Doug was able to help Mary receive medical treatment in Chile at COANIQUEM. It took eight months, five countries, four organizations, multiple languages, and an army of angels to help this woman get the medical treatment and care she deserves.

#1 I was born and raised in Los Angeles and lived there until the age of seven. Shortly after, I moved to Coronado from the ages of 7-12 and then to Pacific Beach where I attended La Jolla High School and then San Diego State University.
#2 My favorite travel destination is the Bahamas. I love the water, sun and the people. The Bahamian people are wonderful. I hope to visit Bariloche, Argentina one day soon.
#3 When I was younger, I had always wanted to climb Mount Everest. Now, I would like to take a helicopter to the top of Mount Everest.
#4 This is the first day for the rest of your life. Live it like it is the Super Bowl, although without any time outs or instant replays.
#5 I have eight children and thirteen grandchildren – I love supporting charities that help children.
#6 We have two pets. Max is our 100 lb. male black Labrador (age 3) and Pushik is our male cat (age 13).
#7 I have run 13 marathons and 16 half marathons! I have also flown around the world twice and gone helicopter skiing 45 times.
#8 I have always said that when you hit rock bottom, it is a foundation from which to build upon.
#9 I have always believed that when life throws you lemons, make lemonade.
#10 I am currently helping the Bahamian people after the devastating hurricane Dorian destroyed the Great Abacos and Grand Bahamas islands.
