Promises2Kids San Diego – Empowering Foster Youth for Over 35 Years

Founded in 1981 as the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation of San Diego County, Promises2Kids has been a leader in supporting foster children for more than three decades. Today, Promises2Kids San Diego provides vital services to over 3,000 current and former foster youth every year, helping them overcome past trauma and build brighter futures.

About Promises2Kids San Diego

San Diego County has more than 3,000 children living in foster care on any given day. Promises2Kids responds to their needs through four core programs:

Polinsky Children’s Center

The A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center provides shelter and protection for more than 1,000 children annually. Built in the early 1990s with $12 million in community funding, the center is now a national model for child protection and care, with experts from around the world—including Saudi Arabia—visiting to learn from its design.

Camp Connect

This program reunites brothers and sisters who are placed in separate foster homes, giving them the chance to spend quality time together in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

Guardian Scholars

A life-changing program that provides former foster youth with mentoring, financial support, and resources to pursue higher education and career success.

Foster Funds

This program offers special funding to meet the unique needs of foster children—such as sports fees, tutoring, and music lessons—that help create a sense of normalcy in their lives.
