Dedicated to the Communities of San Diego and Tijuana!

Mery Lopez-Gallo has been the Community Empowerment Manager for TelevisaUnivision since its inception 25 years ago. Que Buena 106.5FM is the first licensed Spanish language FM radio station to broadcast from San Diego and can be heard throughout Southern California and Northern Mexico. Lopez-Gallo connects these two nations through civic, social and community work with Que Buena and sister station Amor 102.9FM.

Over the past 25 years Lopez-Gallo has broadcast her public service program “De Viva Voz”. This program serves as an on-air platform for hundreds of leaders and professionals, including teachers, doctors and government agencies to share and provide vital information to the Hispanic communities in San Diego County and beyond.

De Viva Voz has been the platform that has led Lopez-Gallo to a variety of memorable interviews with such dignitaries as Secretary of the Navy Louis Caldera, Governor Ernesto Ruffo, famed soccer (futbol) player Landon Donovan, and Metropolitan Archbishop Francisco Moreno Barron.

Lopez-Gallo is a graduate of the San Diego School of Broadcasting. She has also served on various boards in San Diego and Tijuana including The Chicano Federation, Foundation of the Children of the California’s, the Southwestern College Foundation, Teatro Mascara Magica, We Support U among several others. She is currently an active member of MANA de San Diego, The House of Mexico and the American Mexican Association.

Mery has lent her voice and personality to public service campaigns for Father Joe’s Villages, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, The SD County Office of Education, The San Diego Police Foundation, SD Port Authority, The District Attorney’s Office, Mexican Consulate, and Internationally with the Dioceses of San Diego and Tijuana. She has also received international awards and recognition from KPBS, the San Diego Padres, the San Diego AD Council, and countless “EAR Awards” (Effective Advertising on Radio) just to name a few.

Lopez-Gallo is also the host of the program “Promesa y Esperanza,” TelevisaUnivision’ s annual fundraising radiothon put together by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, pioneered in cooperation with Amor 102.9FM and Que Buena 106.5FM. Thanks to the participation of our loyal San Diego and Tijuana audience, this fundraiser has raised millions of dollars over the past 25 years to benefit children with pediatric cancer.

GB Magazine would like to congratulate Mery Lopez-Gallo for 25 years of giving to the San Diego and Tijuana communities, sharing her knowledge and passion, educating people and we look forward to 25 more years of her Giving Back!

De Viva Voz broadcasts Sunday’s 8:30 am on Amor 102.9 FM and 7:00 am on Que Buena 106.5 FM. #DeVivaVoz
