A Legacy of Love Benjamin “Ben” Macias Transforms Healthcare in National City

Share

In the heart of National City, a new beacon of hope is rising thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Benjamin “Ben” Macias. Born and raised in National City, Ben’s philanthropic journey began with the values instilled by his parents as the pathway to success: perseverance, hard work, and dedication. These principles shaped his success and inspired his commitment to uplifting others.

Ben’s sense of responsibility toward his community was also deeply influenced by family. As a young man, he helped care for his grandfather, an experience that opened his eyes to the challenges seniors face in accessing compassionate care. This experience led him to launch CFS Transportation, a company serving elderly and medically fragile adults with transportation services. CFS Transportation is an extension of the Macias family’s legacy of love, respect, and resilience.

Today, that legacy takes form in Ben’s transformational gift to San Ysidro Health San Diego, the largest individual donation in the organization’s 56-year history. His contribution is helping fund the Macias Family Health Center, a 143,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that will serve thousands of families. His investment is his legacy rooted in love, vision, and commitment to health equity within his community.

“Hardworking families deserve compassionate care and access to world-class facilities and services. This center is my way of giving back to the community that raised me.” – Ben Macias

The Macias Family Health Center will offer wraparound services under one roof, including medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, senior meals and activities, and transportation. It is expected to serve 20,000 patients in its first year and will house a Program of All-Inclusive care for the Elderly (PACE) and a Federally Qualified Health Center, ensuring holistic, culturally competent care for vulnerable seniors and families. This gift is a lifeline for the South Bay community.

Beyond healthcare, Ben’s generosity is catalyzing economic development. His donation will create 200 jobs, spark economic growth, and set a new standard for philanthropic leadership in the South Bay. For over 15 years, Ben has stood beside San Ysidro Health, as a donor, hands-on volunteer, and co-presenting sponsor of the annual Clásico de Golf Tournament. His presence inspires others to give, serve, and believe in the power of accessible care.

“Ben’s gift ensures that families who work tirelessly to build a better San Diego County have access to the comprehensive and transformative care they need to thrive.” – Kevin Mattson, CEO, San Ysidro Health

San Ysidro Health serves over 162,000 patients across San Diego County, with a mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities it serves with access for all. Ben’s gift amplifies that mission, bringing dignity, hope, and healing to the community that shaped him.

Ben’s legacy is one of compassion, courage, and commitment, a legacy that will echo through the halls of the Macias Family Health Center for generations to come.
