Our History and Mission
The Jewish Federation of San Diego County has supported and united the Jewish community since 1936. It began when Judge Jacob Weinberger brought together 2,000 Jews, three synagogues, and several local groups to form the United Jewish Fund.
At first, the Fund helped Jews overseas during the Holocaust. After Israel was founded, it helped families settle in the new nation. In 1947, the group became the United Jewish Federation, which later changed its name to the Jewish Federation of San Diego County in 2010.
Today, the Federation continues to help Jews locally, in Israel, and around the world.
