Intro

“It’s a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.” – Somerset Maugham

The San Diego Police Foundation is an independent 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization raising much needed funds for the San Diego Police Department. The San Diego Police Foundation’s efforts help enhance police/community relations, crime prevention and public safety through grant funding for specialized equipment, training, and cooperative community programs. Karyn Cerulli’s family includes several police officers back in New England. She understands the sacrifices they make day in and day out to protect us. When Karyn moved to San Diego and learned about the impactful work the San Diego Police Foundation does, she knew she had to be involved.

#1 I grew up in Rhode Island and was a painfully shy child.

#2 The advice I would tell my younger self is: “Be kind, trust your feelings and never stop believing in yourself and the good in people.”

#3 If I did not live in San Diego, I would choose New England.

#4 I try to start each day with GRATITUDE!

#5 When I have free time, I FaceTime my kids and grandkids.

#6 We have 3 German Shepherds! Colt (age 10), Sarge (age 5), Sansa (age 1).

#7 The San Diego Police Foundation funds critical needs and shortages that shrinking budgets no longer cover, supports effective programs that fight domestic violence and online predators, and advocates for better safety measures and practices in our communities.

#8 Each year, the San Diego Police Foundation awards a scholarship to a meritorious woman who is pursuing an education that will prepare her for a career in law enforcement. A previous scholarship recipient, a young woman who studied criminal justice at San Diego State University, recently earned her bachelor’s degree and is now assisting SDPD’s Domestic Violence Unit.

#9 This upcoming spring, the San Diego Police Foundation will host its 11th annual Women in Blue Luncheon, honoring female police officers who protect and serve San Diego. This inspirational luncheon is the signature event for the Women in Blue movement, which promotes diversity, leadership, and the empowerment of women.

#10 The dollars raised from the Women in Blue Luncheon and other Foundation initiatives support efforts to enhance police/community relations, crime prevention and public safety. These efforts are accomplished through grant funding for vital equipment, specialized training, and cooperative community programs.
