In partnership with Deloitte, San Diego Squared (SD2) hosted its first annual AAPI Leaders in STEM Dinner. The event aims to foster connections between AAPI STEM leaders and students to create community and opportunities for mentorship. The event is part of a larger initiative by SD2 to build community and open pathways for diverse talent to enter the STEM workforce. SD2 has also hosted dinners for Latino and Black leaders in STEM in 2023.
Blending a networking event, dinner party, and round table, the series of events seeks to create a welcoming environment for knowledge exchange and making connections. The diverse group in attendance, from students to C-suite executives, reflects SD2’s commitment to bridging the gap between diverse talent and STEM career opportunities.
Beyond a singular evening, the event serves as a microcosm of SD2’s extensive work to promote a more diverse STEM workforce. SD2 hosts year-round programming via its Fellows program for high school students, Scholars program for college students, and Interns program for college graduates. All students are paired with a yearlong mentor to help foster deeper connections and create a sense of belonging in STEM.
By providing a platform for leaders to connect with future trailblazers, SD2 is actively shaping the trajectory of STEM in San Diego and beyond, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive future for the industry.
