Honoring Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” Jones: A Celebration of Life

A celebration of life was held in honor of Foundation for the Children of the Californias’ beloved founder, Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” Jones. Dr. Jones recently passed away at age 88. She was the Founder of Foundation for the Children of the Californias, and Co-Founding President of Fundación para los Niños de las Californias / Hospital Infantil de las Californias. With all our hearts, we accompany her family in mourning, as we continue to honor her memory and contributions to our region’s institutions.

The event was attended by Bob Jondall, Betty Kornreich, Rachel Zang, Heather Armstrong, Laura Maloney, Klink, Jennifer Smutz, Alma Fahme, Tom Karlo, Paul Vandolah, Mary McKay, Stephanie Williams, Maria Hinds, Brittany Swenson, Maria Laniado, Jennifer Webberley, Rudy Ramirez, Arnoldo Sierra, Amanda Jimenez, and many others who gathered to celebrate her remarkable life and legacy.

Esteban Villanueva was born in Washington D.C. and raised in La Jolla. He attended both Francis Parker and The Bishop’s School locally before going to Dartmouth College where he received his B.S. in Biology and Pepperdine School of Law where he received his J.D. focusing Entertainment Law. He worked in the Latin music industry where his projects went on to win 14 Grammy Awards for artists including Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana. After starting GB Magazine with Danitza Villanueva in 2007, he has gone on to win awards and recognition from the community for his support of helping raise millions of dollars for non-profit organizations. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Air & Space Museum and resides in East County in San Diego where he and his wife Danitza run DAESVI Publishing, home to GB Magazine, among several other publications.
