It was a beautiful morning a top Mount Soledad where Papa Doug Manchester, longtime San Diego businessman, was celebrated for making a sizable donation to continue the mission of honoring veterans at the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial in La Jolla. Manchester’s involvement can be tracked back to the association’s purchase of the land on which the memorial sits. Early in his life, Manchester wanted to join the U. S. Marine Corps, but a medical condition thwarted those dreams, which is when he turned his attention to those who have served and sacrificed. Executive Director Neil O’Connell, along with staff, other Trustees and volunteers hosted a special celebration and bench dedication with Manchester and his family to show appreciation at the Memorial.
