The CDC is urges everyone to get their flu shot every year is the best way to help protect against flu. Vaccination has many benefits including reducing the risk of flu illnesses, hospitalizations and even the risk of flu-related death in children. Flu vaccines cause antibodies to develop in the body about two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies provide protection against infection with the viruses that are used to make the vaccine. Make plans to get vaccinated early in fall before the flu season begins. The CDC recommends that people get a flu vaccine by the end of October. Here is a list of locations throughout San Diego where you can get your flu shot:

• Access Inc.:
Access Inc. hosts a free flu shot clinic for individuals four years or older. Location included in the past are in Linda Vista, Birdland, and surrounding areas.

• Cesar Chavez Distribution Center:
Cesar Chavez Distribution Center in San Ysidro hosts free flu vaccinations in November for anyone four years or older.

 

Costco pharmacy

• Costco Pharmacy:
Costco Pharmacies offer flu shots starting at $19.99. With centrally located stores including Mission Valley, Chula Vista, and Carmel Mountain, this is an easy way to get your flu shot while also getting your grocery shopping done. • Family Healthcare Centers of San Diego (FHCSD):
FHCSD provides affordable vaccinations to those who are underinsured or uninsured, including flu shots. They have over 40 locations across San Diego County—including Mission Beach, El Cajon and Downtown—making it convenient for you to get your flu shot this season. To schedule an appointment, call (619) 515-2300.

• Kaiser Permanente Target Clinic in Mission Valley:
If you have Kaiser Permanente insurance, visit the Mission Valley Target location to get your flu shot during your next shopping trip. Just walk in or call (619) 491-0570 to see if you can schedule in advance.

 

National city fire department station

• Mountain Empire High School:
In November Champions for Health provides free flu shots for individuals four years and older at the high school.

• National City Fire Department Station:
October thru Mid-December, the fire station provides flu shots. Flu shots are provided for free.

• North Inland Public Health Center:
This is one of the clinics that is providing free flu shots for those without medical insurance or vaccination coverage in November. Call (760) 740-3000 to make an appointment.

• Northgate Market:
Throughout November until Mid-December, several Northgate Market locations will be hosting free flu shot clinics in partnership with Champions for Health. to find your local Northgate Market’s flu shot clinic date.

• Public Health Center Locations:
With North, Central, and East County locations, Public Health Centers are an easily accessible option for those without vaccination coverage who want to get their flu shot. • The San Diego LGBT Community Center:
In November they offer free flu shots for San Diegans four years or older.
