Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a world class opera singer? To have the kind of voice that will carry over a full symphony orchestra to the very last seat in the house? Victoria Robertson is a rising star in the world of music going through a very advanced training process and preparing for her international opera career.
Victoria is widely recognized in San Diego, having performed with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, La Jolla Symphony and other local organizations. Her beauty transcends as she was also Miss San Diego in the Miss America Pageant and toured around the world as Miss USO, San Diego.
Victoria has had a diverse career as a vocalist performing different styles such as musical theater, singer-songwriter, rock ‘n roll and pop but she soon realized it was her classical singing that caught most peoples’ attention. “Although I have been training for about fifteen years, it wasn’t until my recent success winning many opera competitions that I started to take my operatic potential more seriously,” she tells GB Magazine.
It is the combination of Victoria’s quality of voice, stage charisma and stunning good looks that have challenged the opera singer stereotype and helped her achieve operatic success. Currently, she is training with a highly respected Master Opera teacher, Michael Trimble, whose professional students have gone one to perform at the Met, La Scala and other top houses around the world.
As Victoria continues to expand her three octave range and moving coloratura [elaborate virtuoso melody[ notes, she is exploring the limits of the human vocal range. “Now that my voice is technically developing into such a powerful instrument,” she said “I cannot help but want to express myself by singing some of the most challenging and beautiful music every written for the voice… that happens to be opera.”
Whether Victoria chose opera or opera chose Victoria is immaterial. The fact remains that this prima donna in the making has the potential to soar to the top and we get to watch her progress along the way. Victoria will be recording a new CD in February 2011.
Recently, Victoria sang at the GB Magazine Polo Tournament in Rancho Santa Fe to the delight of the capacity crowds. Victoria is available for private concerts and events here in San Diego between her world tour presentations.
