As a longstanding partner, Univision Radio San Diego is always ready to help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the fight against pediatric cancer. In 2001, they broadcasted their first St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza radiothon at a local mall and in doing so became one of the first radio stations in California to adopt the challenge of bringing a two-day St. Jude fundraising and awareness broadcast to the Spanish speaking-community.
In February 2019, Univision conducted their 18th Annual St. Jude Radiothon, raising a cumulative total of more than $2 million through their many years of support! It is because of this support, St. Jude families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food, so that the only thing families have to focus on is helping their child live.
Most recently, Univision Radio San Diego representatives attended the Second Annual St. Jude Culinary Soirée on Saturday, May 18. The event, set in the historic Lane Field in downtown, raised over $103,200 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
In addition to supporting these events, Univision’s year-round partnership helps bring awareness to the community about the lifesaving work of St. Jude, a hospital that is leading the way the world, understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer. So what’s next for Univision and St. Jude? Once again, Univision will serve as the media partner of the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on Saturday, September 28 at the NTC Park at Liberty Station.
