Univision Radio is celebrating the most successful Radiothon in its history! Thanks to the strong support from the radio stations Amor 102.9 (formerly known as 102.9 Más Variedad) and Qué Buena 106.5, who asked their audience to help in this fundraising, they were able to collect more than one hundred thousand dollars! Taking into account all the radiothons since its beginning more than 18 years ago, the total amount rises to 2 million dollars!

Mery López-Gallo, Director of Empowerment shared with Giving Back Magazine, “All of us at the Univision Radio San Diego family are very proud of being the pioneer stations in the Latino market of this country. These radiothons were usually only organized by Country music stations for English speaking audiences, and it was not till 2000 that St. Jude invited the Latino stations to be part of the radiothons called Promise and Hope”.

Since its inception in 1962, St. Jude´s Hospital keeps its doors open thanks to the people´s generosity and their sponsors. The St. Jude Children Research Hospital not only offers free treatment but is also the most important research center for children´s cancer in the country. All of the discoveries and scientific improvements in their protocols are shared with the international medical community. Locally, Hospital General de Tijuana and Rady Children´s Hospital of San Diego use protocols from St. Jude with their patients.

Univision thanks their colleagues at Televisa Channel 12, the bilingual newspaper La Prensa San Diego and of course our friends at Giving Back Magazine for such wonderful coverage.
