The Fleet Science Center invites you to travel to the vibrant island of Cuba through a film that beautifully captures this exotic country. Filmed exclusively for IMAX® theaters, CUBA: Journey to the Heart of the Caribbean immerses audiences in the culture of the island and reveals why Cuba continues to stir the imagination of the world. CUBA opens in the Fleet’s Eugene Heikoff and Marilyn Jacobs Heikoff Giant Dome Theater on Friday, November 15, 2019.

CUBA tells the powerful story of a land preserved in time yet poised on the cusp of dramatic change. The nation’s lively culture, stunning colonial architecture and pristine ecosystems provide a window into the island’s history and heart.

Audiences will be transported across breathtaking landscapes, beneath the ocean’s surface to iridescent reefs and into streets pulsing with music. Through the eyes of artists, historians and scientists, the film provides an intimate look at the island nation.

The Fleet is not only a venue for the film but a producer as well. As a member of the Giant Dome Theater Consortium, the Fleet invests in films and works with filmmakers to ensure their work is suitable for the demands of Giant Dome Theaters.

There are fewer than 60 Giant Dome Theaters around the world, and the Fleet’s was the first in the world opening in 1973. The Fleet’s IMAX projector still runs film – specifically 15/70 IMAX film. In fact, The Fleet’s legendary projector has run so much film in 46 years that, if laid end-to-end, the film would stretch to the Moon and back!
