Westgate Hotel.
The AAA Four Diamond-rated Westgate Hotel is an iconic property in the heart of downtown San Diego designed to rival the mythical palaces of Europe. From its 223 guest rooms to the contemporary cuisine of the award-winning Westgate Room, guests truly enjoy European décor, exquisite cuisine and artistic cocktails.
On April 15, The Westgate Hotel’s Executive Chef Fabrice Hardel and Chef Javier Plascencia are partnering to present the Westgate Hotel’s 2nd Annual Spirit of Baja Dinner. Guests will head south of the border for an unforgettable five-course wine pairing dinner and culinary journey inspired by the vibrant flavors of Baja California- from enjoying a Mezcal cocktail reception to Baja-inspired hors d’oeuvres.
For the main event, Chef Javier Plascencia will take over the kitchen to prepare a four-course wine pairing dinner showcasing his innate talent for achieving combinations that create completely new flavors. A Mexican culinary master and gastronomic trend setter, Chef Plascencia continues to popularize Baja-Mediterranean cuisine with his flair for dramatic presentation, an appreciation for Tijuana street food’s deep flavors and a binational approach to farm-to-table cooking. The night will also offer desserts by Chef Fabrice, paired with a tequila cocktail. The best wines from Valle de Guadalupe, a burgeoning wine region often referred to as “The Next Napa” will include wines from Adobe Guadalupe, Monte Xanic, Paoloni Wines and Finca La Carrodilla.
“The Westgate Hotel is becoming known for hosting unique culinary events, and The Spirit of Baja will be nothing short of an unforgettable experience,” Linda Karimi, Hotel Communications Director tells Giving Back Magazine. “This event gives guests exclusive access to the talented Chef Plascencia, who is sure to deliver mouthwatering new flavors, and enlighten guests about increasingly popular Baja-Mediterranean cuisine.”
