gtk-tux-tenniesThe San Diego Symphony performed its first concert on December 6, 1910. In the 100-plus years since its inception, the San Diego Symphony has become one of the leading orchestras in the world. Over time, the performances went from purely classical to now include the “Pops” series where the Symphony musicians play alongside modern popular artists such as Harry Connick Jr., Toni Braxton, Wilson Phillips, Wynona Judd and Dennis DeYoung. This style of music is appealing to every generation as it has classical elements with modern pop songs.

The Summer Pops has become a cultural treasure for San Diego, and for many, the most iconic experience you can have to end a beautiful summer day. A table, a bottle of wine, friends, a sunset over the water, boats sailing by, the moon rising and fireworks all while you are enveloped by the most beautiful music from one of the top orchestras in the world.

This year the Summer Pops season is kicking off with the sixth annual Tux ‘n Tennies Summer Bash, with special guests KC and The Sunshine Band. The night will celebrate with hits like That’s the Way I Like It to Shake Your Booty. Event Co-Chairs Nikki and Ben Clay and Joyce Gattas will help make an unforgettable event to help raise funds for the San Diego Symphony’s music education programs.
