Southwest Airlines is celebrating our 46th anniversary with expanded service that will further our goals to provide convenient, affordable travel to over 100 million Customers each year. Currently, Southwest operates flights to 101 destinations within the United States as well as twelve international cities.
In 2017, we will be adding more destinations in order to better meet the needs of our Customers. As the leading air travel provider to Californians, Southwest seeks to provide Golden State travelers with flight options that get you to where you want to go. Recognizing the need for affordable flights to Mexico, we recently announced that we will be rolling out new international nonstop services for San Diegans. Beginning April 25, 2017, travelers will be able to fly nonstop from San Diego to San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos, Mexico. This will be the first direct international flight we offer from San Diego International Airport to Mexico. Not only is Los Cabos a favorite vacation destination, but as a largely binational city, the continued growth of flights into Mexico is invaluable to those with family across the border. Celebrating the addition to our services in San Diego, we spread the LUV® by surprising San Diegans with $20,000 in gift cards and gifts from a bank of two million Rapid Rewards® Points!
In addition to the direct flights to Cabo, Southwest Airlines has also added five more domestic destinations earlier this year. These cities include Boise, Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Newark, and Spokane; flights to these destinations will begin June 4, 2017. With many San Diegans being transplants, these additional flight options provide many locals with an affordable and enjoyable option for visiting those important to them as well as an effective way of doing business across the nation.
