The Anatomy of Rescues From Start to Finish

Saved In America (SIA) was founded in 2009 and is headquartered here in San Diego with national reach and alliances. At no charge to families, SIA volunteers to assist parents and law enforcement to locate missing, runaway and exploited children – the groups most vulnerable to sexual trafficking. For victims of sexual exploitation, SIA assists in procuring legal representation, safe housing and rehabilitative therapy. After rehabilitation, SIA provides scholarships to victims for education or vocational training. Since December 2014, SIA has assisted parents and law enforcement in the recovery of 247 children.

Unfortunately, recovery of a child is only the first step to a very long process. The moment a child is missing, the parent contacts SIA to assist and deploy resources. After receiving an online application and signed POA, SIA works with the parent to gather intelligence and information. Upon receiving actionable intelligence, SIA conducts surveillance to get “eyes” on the child and predator. In the interim, SIA Case Manager and Law Enforcement Liaison works with Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies to execute the recovery and return the child safely back to the family.

Prior to recovery, SIA coordinates with the family to find an emergency transitional safe home or long-term rehabilitation center which conducts health and physical assessments; provides counseling and therapy; mentorship; substance abuse treatment; and most importantly a safe and secure location. Next, SIA works with law enforcement to locate the predator.

In 2017, SIA assisted a mother and the Sparks Nevada Police Department in the arrest of Christopher Alexander Bojorquez; a predator who lured a 14-year-old girl out of her home to Mexico. Bojorquez did not show up for bail and became a fugitive. For a second time, SIA deployed resources and coordinated with Mexican, Local and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies to locate Bojorquez. Finally, Bojorquez was recaptured on a $1 million warrant on July 25, 2019 and sentenced to Nevada State Prison for up to eight years.

Founder & CEO Joseph Travers shared with GB Magazine “this case is the example of how several law enforcement agencies and effective private organizations can work together to eradicate child sex trafficking in the United States. It is one of the many cases we wish to enforce throughout each city in the country.”

After sentencing, SIA continues to work with families to provide legal counsel and will file criminal and civil lawsuits against predators to ensure justice is served. In October 2020, SIA assisted a mother in obtaining a $250,000 judgement on behalf of a 14-year-old child who was a victim of a sexual predator. Once the funds are received, they will assist the minor with ongoing treatment, rehabilitation and recovery. “We now have a vehicle to obtain assets to assist the child and family to cover ongoing costs for rehabilitation, counseling and education,” stated Travers. SIA legal counsel added “hopefully the fact that predators will face civil liability along with criminal prosecution, and the possibility of judgment liens levied against their personal assets, will be a strong deterrent to anyone involved in trafficking children in the United States.”

Saved In America’s mission is to end the atrocities of child sex trafficking and break the chains of evil to create a better and brighter future for victims. All services are provided free of charge.
