“Improving the well-being of our struggling neighbors is what guides us in everything we do now more than ever.”
-Kevin Mattson, President and CEO, San Ysidro Health

The COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately hurting the families San Ysidro Health serves in Central, South, East and Rural San Diego County. Data shows that infection rates are rampant in communities made up of essential workers that cannot work from home and are employed in high-contact and high exposure jobs.

To keep up the fight against the aggressive COVID-19 virus and its spread, San Ysidro Health (SYH) has increased COVID-19 testing to families with essential employees in their households, food distribution and enhanced in-home services for seniors.

The majority of our frontline Sheroes and Heroes live and work in the same community and leave their families to take care of their neighbors.

Although COVID-19 has affected some of SYH’s services, it has not disrupted their ability to stay open and provide expert, compassionate care to our neighbors in need. And, while COVID-19 testing is important, CARE is what matters most.

SYH was founded out of a crisis and out of humble beginnings – 51 years ago, seven, resilient working mothers with little means were determined to bring medical services for their children since the only doctor serving the community was leaving. They organized and found their way to supporters who helped them establish a volunteer clinic and out of that crisis, a vital network of care was born.

Now, more than ever, our community needs San Ysidro Health. And they need you. Please consider supporting our essential neighbors in need at www.give.syhealth.org/covid19

All contributions sustain their COVID-19 Relief Fund which supports COVID-19 testing and vital follow-up care, purchase needed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like masks, gloves, gowns and face shields, and fund essential healthcare services for our uninsured and underinsured neighbors.
